Sofia
Sofia is the capital of Bulgaria and its largest city. It is the 14th largest city in terms of population in the European Union, with a population of 1,241,675 people (2019). Sofia is named after the late antique early Christian cathedral church of the city of St. Sophia. The city's holiday is on September 17, when the Orthodox Church celebrates the Holy Martyrs Sofia, Faith, Hope and Love.
The motto of the capital is "Grows but does not grow old".
