Iskar Dam
Overview
Iskar is the largest dam in Bulgaria. It was built in 1954 across the Iskar river to create a reservoir in the valley behind by storing the water that flows into it naturally. The water gathered in the Iskar Dam provides 80% of Sofia's drinking water.
Iskar Dam Recreation Area is very popular for short-term recreation by the water, water sports and fishing. Places to camp are available on the dam's shore.
