Planа mountain

Overview

The Plana is a small, very beautiful medium-high mountain, located between Vitosha and Rila, between Sofia, Samokov field and Pancharevo gorge of the river Iskar, which separates it from the Lozen mountain. Initially, the Plana was considered part of Vitosha mountain. For the first time, the Scorpil brothers named it after its main hill, called Plana, and defined it as a separate mountain.

The predominant soils are cinnamon, light brown, and dark brown forest. Most of the Planа is covered with rare coniferous and deciduous forests and pastures. In the past, the mountain was completely covered with forests, most of which were cut down as a result of local mining.

The mountain is easily accessible, with many unmarked trails, easy to follow. There are many hotels and restaurants, many beautiful places, paths, and fountains.
