Central Department Store (TZUM) Sofia

Overview

The Central Department Store, known by its acronym TZUM, is a large department store in Sofia,  located at the very heart of the city, in immediate proximity to the Council of Ministers, the President's Office, and the National Assembly. Designed by the architect Kosta Nikolov in 1956, the TZUM building is part of the monumental architectural centre of Sofia, the so-called Largo.

For a long time, it was the largest shopping mall on the Balkan Peninsula.

The commercial area of ​​the Central Department Store covers 19,000 m2, divided into 6 floors. The office area of ​​over 11,000 m2 is divided into 3 floors. The building was twice completely reconstructed - in 1986 and in 2001.
