Ivan Vazov House Museum

Overview

The Ivan Vazov House Museum, located in Sofia, is the first literature museum in Bulgaria. It was opened on November 26, 1926. The house was built in 1895.

This is the house where Ivan Vazov spends the most time of his life. In one of the rooms on the first floor, there is an art and documentary exhibition, which shows some of the gifts and awards he had received. 

On the second floor is situated the office of Ivan Vazov, where his desk and personal library, personal belongings, paintings, portraits, and objects can be seen. The office is connected by a transitional door to the poet's bedroom, where his clothes are displayed in a small window. On the same floor are the living room and the room of his mother Saba Vazova.

On the first floor, next to the door that leads to the yard and a room that once served as a kitchen, is the family dining room. There, on a chair with a black ribbon, Vazov was sitting during his last lunch.
