Yumruk rock
Overview
It was declared a protected area in 2000. It occupies an area of 346 ha, southwest of the village of Kaloyantsi, Kardzhali municipality, near the mouth of the Perpereshka River. It covers a high rocky ridge on the left bank of the Studen Kladenets dam. Hard-to-reach combs are the habitat and nesting site of a number of rare and protected birds: griffon vulture and Egyptian vulture, black stork, white-tailed buzzard, black-throated kestrel, rock bass, red-breasted nettle and others. The vegetation is represented by oak forests, shrubs, dracaena, hornbeam and dry-loving grasslands. The area also includes several caves inhabited by bats. The entire cave fauna in Bulgaria is protected by the law on biological diversity. The ridge reveals a wonderful view of the lake of the dam "Studen Kladenets". Note: A pleasant place for tourism under the restrictions defined in the Protected Areas Act.
