Mavrud is a late ripening variety - in the region of Plovdiv the grapes ripen in early October. Fertility is moderate. The variety is relatively resistant to gray rot.
The wines produced by this variety have a rich ruby color, enough tannins and acids and a specific, very pleasant aroma, which is dominated by berries and spices.
The wines develop perfectly in contact with oak wood, developing a powerful, complex aroma, soft, dense and harmonious taste.
Rkatsiteli is a Georgian variety that has been grown in Kakheti since time immemorial and is used to make the famous Kakhetian wines.
It has become widespread in Bulgaria since the 1970s due to its good fertility and resilience. It produces white dry table wines without special individuality and wine materials for natural sparkling wines, mainly in Northeastern Bulgaria.
Due to its high content of malic acid and tendency to oxidation of must and produced wines, this variety is not recommended for distribution in Bulgaria.
