Medieval fortress "Urguri" village of Bulgari
Overview
North of the village of Bulgari, in the area "Gradishteto" is the Thracian, late antique and medieval fortress "Urguri". It is located on a high hill with steep slopes descending to the Karaagach River. The fenced space occupies about 11 decares. The fortress has an almost rectangular shape. It is built of unworked stones, in places welded with white mortar, and in places without solder. Almost in the center of the fortress, on an area of approximately 1 decare, a second fortification was built of bare stone with a solder of white mortar mixed with pieces of bricks. About 100 m from the fortress wall have been cleared. Around the large fortress "Urguri" are located within a radius of 5-6 km, three smaller fortifications (each with an area of 1-2 decares).
