Overview

The Natural History Museum in Varna studies and promotes the organismic world of the Black Sea and the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. In scientific terms, the exhibition is based on the evolutionary principle and is divided into three sections: Geology and Paleontology, Flora and Vegetation and Fauna. Botanical exposition provides information about all characteristic types of vegetation on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast and the flora of seaweed. Of particular value are the exposed plant species with conservation status. The diversity of the animal world in the region is presented in several halls. The emphasis is on rare and endangered species. Interesting exhibits are the world-protected red-breasted goose, the extinct bustard from the territory of Bulgaria and the rare griffon vulture.
