Monument to Karel Shkorpil - Pliska
Overview
The monument to archaeologists Fyodor Uspensky and Karel Shkorpil was erected on the central square in Pliska. In 1924 Karel Shkorpil became the initiator and chairman of the Archaeological Association "Bulgarian Antiquity", which organized the excavations in Pliska. Fyodor Uspensky has made a significant contribution to the development of Bulgarian archeology. Together with Karel Shkorpil he excavated in medieval Pliska.
