Monument to those who died from Haskovo in the Patriotic War 1944-1945 - Haskovo
Overview
In the 60s and 70s of the twentieth century in many settlements of the Haskovo region were placed monuments or memorial plaques to those killed in all wars in the villages of the district, where there are none so far. Some of them are completely new, and others - renovated or restored, adding the names of those killed in World War II. At the end of the 1990s, the Haskovo Society of War Veterans took the initiative to make and place a memorial sign for the people of Haskovo who died in the Second World War 1944-1945. The initiative is part of the Haskovo Municipality's restoration and preservation of the monuments on its territory. On September 27, 1999 in Haskovo with a solemn ritual with military honors was unveiled a monument to the fallen Haskovo soldiers in the Patriotic War. From the name of the veterans of the war a word is pronounced by O.Z. Stefan Dushkov. The memorial sign is made of polished marble, delivered from the Kresna Gorge. Author of the project - Vakril Dimitrov. On the polished side of the monument are written 40 names - officers, non-commissioned officers and privates who died in battle. The monument is located in the park area opposite the northern facade of the building of Haskovo municipality.
