Monument to the Haskovo Revivalists - Haskovo
Overview
The monument of the Haskovo Revivalists is one of the most beautiful and representative monuments in the town of Haskovo. It is located in the central part of the city and is a wonderful addition to the European look of Haskovo. The original monument is the work of architect Angel Radev and the sculptor Mr. Tonev - Guspata. On the northern wall of the six-meter granite column are inscribed the names of 72 revivalists from the town of Haskovo. The eastern beautiful metal plate depicts a bird in flight, a feather and the first letters of the Bulgarian alphabet, which are a symbol of literature and knowledge. A short but patriotic text is written on the south side, expressing the gratitude and appreciation of the next generations for the contribution of the Haskovo Revivalists to European spirituality. The monument of the Haskovo Revivalists was unveiled in an extremely solemn atmosphere by the President of the Republic of Bulgaria - Georgi Parvanov.
