Overview

An impressive monument of bronze and stone is placed at the entrance to the emblematic for Haskovo Kenana Park. A figure of a woman with her hands held high, shouting "Hurray" - an expression of delight in freedom. The total height of the monument - pedestal and statue is 8 meters. Dedicated to Victory Day - May 9, it is part of the layout of the approach to Kenana Park. The architectural solution of the whole ensemble is the work of eng. Valentina Atanasova - park builder, and the technical implementation - of a team of "Public Works" - Haskovo led by Nikola Lyubenov. The author of the statue is the world-famous Bulgarian sculptor Prof. Lyubomir Dalchev (born on December 27, 1902 in Thessaloniki, who died on July 11, 2002 in Sunny Valley, USA). On May 9, 1977, a solemn rally of Haskovo citizens was held on the occasion of the unveiling of the "impressive monument of victory." Present were Mr. Kortsanov - First Secretary of the District Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party - Haskovo, Peter Kolev - First Secretary of the City Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party - Haskovo, Stefan Pashov - Mayor of Haskovo (then chairman of the Executive Committee of the City People's Council). The celebration was opened by Petar Kolev, a speech about the Soviet army was given by Stefan Pashov, and G. Kortsanov announced the decision of the Executive Committee of the District People's Council - Haskovo to rename Kenana Park to Victory Park.
