Monument to Dimitar Ivanov - Litso - Haskovo
Overview
Dimitar Ivanov - Litso (1888-1953) is a bright representative of the post-liberation generation of artists and intellectuals who gave a strong impetus to our national culture. Lico is the first Haskovo artist after the Liberation, born, lived and worked entirely in his hometown. In his watercolor landscapes, executed in the extremely difficult technique "a la prima", the critics find an artist with great talent and inspiration. During the First World War, Lito was mobilized as a military artist. It was at the front that his creative maturation took place. Works such as "Babuna Planina", "Pletvar", "Girl from Pelister" were born here.… He did not have the opportunity to receive an academic education. Dimitar Ivanov is an artist that every city would be proud of. All this is evidenced by the 22 exhibitions arranged by the author in different cities, revealing the rich soul, great talent and aesthetic sense of the artist. In 2008, on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the birth of Dimitar Ivanov - Litso, in the center of Haskovo was unveiled a monument to him, integrated into an urban environment, with natural dimensions and overall appearance. The statue is located in front of the artist's house.
