Overview

The memorial plaque is placed in honor of the first Russian soldier who died in Haskovo during the Russo-Turkish War of Liberation. Made of marble, applied on a rectangular truncated concrete pyramid, with the inscription: "Here, on January 19, 1878, one of the first Russian soldiers who entered Haskovo was killed by bashibozuzi." The plaque was placed and officially opened on January 18, 1978 in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Liberation of Bulgaria and Haskovo. On the eve of January 19, 1978 in Haskovo were placed several memorial signs of gratitude from Haskovo citizens - Memorial plaque of Teofana Stoilova - on the fence of the Home for Children and Adolescents "Assen Zlatarov" and the Morena, dedicated to the victims of the Liberation Haskovo .
