Overview

The permanent exhibition at the Museum Center "Thracian Art in the Eastern Rhodopes" provides information about the tomb in the context of Thracian culture from the period of its heyday V-II century BC. Visitors can follow the history of its discovery and study, get acquainted with the interpretation of the murals. The Thracian cultural heritage in the regional scope is represented by movable cultural monuments from the period of the late Iron Age (VI-I century BC). Here you can see the most remarkable archaeological monuments of the Eastern Rhodopes, Sakar Mountain and the valley of the Maritsa River. In addition to the copy of the unique frescoes with its frescoes Alexander's Tomb, which is a candidate for a UNESCO monument, the Museum Center "Thracian Art in the Eastern Rhodopes" for the first time presented a golden treasure dating from about 4500-4000 BC. Jewelry, similar to the objects from the Varna necropolis, is the oldest gold treasure discovered so far in the world.
