Kyuchuk Kaynardzha fountain in the village of Kaynardzha
Overview
The historic fountain was built in 1892 on the place where Catherine's first war ended on July 21, 1774, and the Kyuchuk Kainardjan Peace Treaty between Russia and Turkey was signed. This treaty gives Russia the opportunity to patronize the Christian peoples of the Balkans, who are under the rule of the Ottoman Empire.
In 1942 the fountain was reconstructed, then a marble memorial plaque was placed, engraved by the artist Gurko Yosifov.
Finishing workings were carried out in 1962 and 1974. The fountain has been placed on the Bulgarian cultural monument list.
