House Museum of Stefan Karadja - Stefan Karadjovo village
Overview
Village of Stefan Karadjovo is located in Southern Bulgaria, Yambol District, Bolyarovo Municipality. It is named after the great Bulgarian revolutionary Stefan Karadja. In the center of the village is the house-museum of Stefan Karadja. It has been declared a cultural monument of national importance. The house is one of five similar sites in the Yambol region. It has been restored on the property where Stefan Karadja's family lived. An ethnographic collection is located in it. There are large panels with the pedigree of the revolutionary, portraits of Stefan Karadja, as well as a copy of the flag of the detachment led by him and Hadji Dimitar. In the yard of the house is the first monument to Stefan Karadja in Bulgaria, erected by his sister Tarna in 1895. It is a large stone cross with an inscription. Outside the current yard in front of the house is located and restored a well-fountain, which was used by the family of Karadzha. The exposition in the house-museum "Stefan Karadja" in Stefan Karadjovo is enriched with valuable exhibits. A far-sighted trumpet, owned by Stefan Karadja and used by him in battle, was donated to a museum in the revolutionary's home village. The donation was made by its last owner, architect Stefan Beyazov from Sofia. It is an interesting fact that his grandfather, also an architect, Stefan Beyazov, met personally with Stefan Karadja's sister - Tarna Dimova. He is the author of the project for a monument to Stefan Karadja, Hadji Dimitar and their detachment in the area "Kanladere" near the village of Vishovgrad, opened in 1890. As a token of gratitude for the monument, Tarna Dimova presented him with a telescope, which is passed on to future generations.
