Overview
Sliven is a wonderful city with a rich history. Over the years, the future has been created here and we have many monuments of history, architecture and culture. One such is the Mirkovic House-Museum. The house is recognized as a cultural monument and has national significance. It is part of the gallery in Sliven "Dimitar Dobrovich". The building was built in the 19th century and is a typical Revival house. Its creators are masters from Tryavna and they give it a unique look and atmosphere, which ranks it among the most prominent examples of urban life and architecture from the Renaissance in Bulgaria. The Mirkovic House-Museum successfully combines the achievements of applied arts, has beautiful wood carvings on the ceilings, unique capitals and built-in closets. Architecture is a clear example of the synthesis between form and construction, artistic flair and aesthetic appearance. The house was built especially for one of the richest and most famous families in Sliven - the Mirkovic family. Prominent figures for national and church independence during the Turkish slavery in our country lived in it Dr. Georgi Mirkovic and his brother Ruscho Mirkovic. Dr. Georgi Mirkovich is one of the students of teacher Petar Deunov. In 1974 the house became a museum and a special exposition was arranged in it, which is called "Old Sliven". It features works of art by the famous artist Dobri Dobrev, who was born in Sliven. . For this purpose Dobri Dobrev recreates in his paintings some of the most intriguing and interesting places from the famous local market, shows characteristic images and crafts that were practiced in the city at that time.
