Overview
The old clock tower is located in the center of Sliven. It was built in the early nineteenth century. The clock tower also served as a fire station. This is the tallest clock tower in Bulgaria, 32 meters high. In 1936, a strong storm destroyed the upper wooden part. It was restored at the beginning of the XXI century according to an old model.
The watch was installed in 1939. It was purchased by Siemens, and German craftsmen and Bulgarian engineers took part in its installation - one of them is engineer Shishedzhiev. The watch is electromechanical - mother watch. It is external and one of its arrows is 2.20 meters high and the other 1.80 meters. The arrows are made of copper and are quite heavy and have broken many times. Its dimensions are four by four meters, and the watch itself is three meters. Its height is 32 meters (the height of the tower). "The special thing here is that it is the highest clock in Bulgaria, mounted on a tower. All other clocks are lower.
