Haskovo Bazaar Mosque
Overview
The name of the building is related to its location - both in the past and now - in the center of the commercial center of the city. Now it is almost completely surrounded by two- and one-storey commercial buildings and shops, which are very close to it.
In the past, it was free-standing, of particular interest were the two large fountains, located freely (outside her yard) at some distance on either side of it. One feature of the prayer hall is that its long axis is transverse to the direction of entry. The ceiling is flat. In the middle of the opposite wall is the mihrab niche, shaped with an embossed frame. In general, the interior is poor, largely changed and modernized (wooden ceilings have been removed, plastering has been undertaken, etc.). A well-preserved mural with landscape motifs is preserved in the niche. The exterior architecture of the building (except for the minaret) is uncharacteristic and inexpressive. On the south wall there is a walled plaque with Arabic written signs, which is unreadable.
