Golyam Perelik Peak

Overview

Golyam Perelik is the highest peak in the Rhodopes. It is located 19 km west of Smolyan. With it (2191 m) the Rhodopes rank seventh in height between the Bulgarian mountains (after Rila - Musala peak, Pirin - Vihren peak, Stara Planina - Botev peak, Vitosha - Cherni peak, Osogovska mountain - Ruen peak and Slavyanka - peak Gotsev peak). Golyam Perelik Peak is among the Hundred National Tourist Sites of the Bulgarian Tourist Union. There is a seal in the hut "Perelik" and in the tourist information center "Chepelare". Golyam Perelik is among the "Conqueror of the 10 mountain leaders". There is a seal in the Perelik hut. Golyam Perelik is easily accessible, but cannot be climbed because a unit of the Bulgarian Army is located there. It can be reached from the Perelik hut in about 40 minutes.
