Momata - Natural Rock Phenomena

Overview

The rock formation "Momata" (the girl) is located about a kilometer from the village of Shiroka Laka on the road to Devin, a hundred meters from the turnoff for the village of Varbovo. From a distance, the rock resembles a girl with a hurricane in her hand. It was formed under the influence of rock erosion and the influence of external earth forces. The locals revived this rock with strange legends. Legend has it that in this place the beautiful girl Kanya from the village of Shiroka Laka prayed to be stoned to save her honor and faith from the persecuting Turks. The rock formation "Momata" is a protected natural landmark.
