Church of the Entry of the Most Holy Theotokos into the Templetown of Dryanovo city

Overview

"Introduction to the Mother of God" is one of the three temples in Dryanovo. It is located in the western part of the city and there is information about it since the XVIII century. As happened in many places in the middle of the XIX century, in this case the old church was replaced by a new, bigger and better one. This happened in 1840. Only 37 years later, however, an accidental fire burned down the building. As if a symbol of the finally ending Ottoman rule (in the year of the fire, 1877, another Russo-Turkish war began, and this one ended with the liberation of Bulgaria).

In its present form, the church was built in the period 1892-1898 by master Mityu, a native of Hitrevtsi huts (now a district of Tryavna). It makes the building cruciform, with a dome and an apse. The people of Dryanovo are enthusiastic about the fact that for the first time after the Liberation a church was built in the town and managed to provide funds (the main donor is the shoemaker's guild in the neighborhood) for its mural painting. It is the work of three people who work in different years - Ivan Yonkov p. Dimitrov from Tryavna, Racho Tiholov from Gabrovo and Ivan Kosev from the Dryanovo village of Ganchovets. The latter built in 1910 a small iconostasis and the bishop's throne.

In addition to the temple, there are two other buildings - to the northeast is the old cell school, and to the northwest is the bell tower, which was built in 1880.

The Church of the Presentation of the Mother of God is located on Dosyu Stoynov Street and is active and is open every day from 08:00 to 12:00. Trinity. Here is held the solemn liturgy of the Epiphany (Jordan's Day - January 6), which precedes the removal of the cross from the river. The temple is also filled on Easter, and the temple holiday is on November 21, when the Introduction and the Day of the Christian Family are celebrated.

In 2013, the frescoes above the entrance were breathed new life by Gergana Simeonova, and in 2017 the church and the bell tower underwent major repairs.
