Church of St. George Tryavna city

Overview

For many years the church "St. Archangel Michael ”was the only one not only in Tryavna, but also in the region. It was becoming increasingly difficult for it to accommodate Christians flocking to worship on major holidays. With the expansion of the settlement in 1843, the people of Dolna Mahala asked for permission from the Ottoman authorities to build another church. The permit came in just seven months. It is not known what delayed the beginning of construction, but in 1848 the best at that time in Tryavna master - builder Dimitar Sergyov ruined the construction of the new church. The icons are painted by painters from the Vitanov family, the frescoes are the work of the Zaharievska and Pop Dimitar Kanchova families, and the carving is by Dimitar Doikovcheto. Gencho Kanev works in the pulpit of the church.

On December 21, 1852, a service began in the new Tryavna church "St. Georgi ”.
