Church of St. Demetrius Dlagnia village
Overview
The church "St. Dimitar ”was built in 1842. In 1867 a massive two-storey building for a cell school was built next to it and so the village was formed as a Revival center for the surrounding villages and neighborhoods with a church, school and later a community center. Much later, in 1936, the bell tower was erected.
This temple has gone through a difficult period. Fortunately, in 2002 the people of the village organized themselves, managed to raise the necessary funds and breathe new life into the sacred place. The Revival spirit is alive here! Since then, the church has been very carefully cared for, it celebrates the big holidays, it receives visitors from the nearby towns of Dryanovo and Veliko Tarnovo, but also from distant countries such as Japan, for example. The locals are proud that since the renovation of the church, Metropolitan Gregory of Tarnovo has come to services 7-8 times.
The temple holiday is on October 26, St. Dimitar's Day, and is usually celebrated properly.
Location: Dlagnia village, Dryanovo municipality. The church is accessible via an asphalt street.
