Holy Trinity Church Dryanovo city
Overview
Holy Trinity Church is one of the three in the town of Dryanovo, the oldest existing today. It was built in 1845-1847 on the site of an older one of the same name. Permission for its construction was given by a sultan's decree, issued in 1845 in the name of Stanyu Stoychev Lafchiev. The builders from the nearby village of Kereka started work the following year and finished in 1847. The church was consecrated by Metropolitan Athanasius of Veliko Tarnovo.
The building is built entirely of stone - a material that is found in sufficient quantities in the Dryanovo region. The church has three naves, with a semicircular apse and a narthex. A gallery passes over the narthex and part of the side ships. The side ships have the same width as the middle one, but are lower. They are separated by two rows of slender round columns. All three ships have semi-cylindrical brick arches. The middle one is higher and has a suspended wooden ceiling of alternating smooth and carved fields, among which the sun motif occupies a central place, which in this case is almost the same as in room №4 of Daskalov's house in Tryavna - made by the same master - Ivan Denev Mitev, born in the Dryanovo village of Buchukvotsi, created a new, modern trend in the art of carving.
The windows are small, sparsely placed, with decorative iron bars and crowned with brick arches. As tradition dictates, the roof is tiled. The whole building is surrounded by the so-called wolf teeth - pointed bricks that are slightly below the edge of the roof. The icons of the iconostasis were made in May 1849 by Yonko (Ioaniki) priest Vitanov, a famous master icon painter from the town of Tryavna, and his partner Dosyu Koyuv (Teodosi Konstantinovich-Chapkana).
On the south side of the temple there is a building that was a cell school. The yard is well maintained, full of flowers.
Today the church is a cultural monument, active, carefully served by the church board and Father George. The church, the cell school and the neighboring Vaptsarova house (of Nikola Vaptsarov, but not the poet) form the Architectural and Historical Ensemble "Giley" (this was the name of this neighborhood of Dryanovo). "St. Trinity "is located next to the museum" Kolyu Ficheto ", and right in front of the temple there is a full-length monument to the First Master.
In the yard of the church is the grave of Stanyu Lafchiev, who managed to make the firman for the construction.
Location: Dryanovo, Kolyu Ficheto Square. The church is accessible via a paved city street.
