Overview

It is located 3 km north of the village, on a high hill, between the Danube River and the Batinska River. The area is known as "Kale Bair".
It has an elongated shape in accordance with the configuration of the terrain. It occupies about 25 decares.
A fortress wall passed on the edge of the village.
Now the eastern wall is best seen, in places parts of it can be seen, built of stones and mortar.
Traces of a moat can be seen on the western, accessible side.
At the northern end, in the rock is carved a well measuring 4 m by 3.50 m. On the surface there are pieces of pottery, typical of the early Thracian era, the pre-Roman, late Roman and the time of the Second Bulgarian State.
Roman and Byzantine coins originate from here. A gold coin from Roman I and Christopher / 921 / was also found.
Karel Shkoripil identifies the fortress with the castle Skaidava, which is mentioned in the Guide of Emperor Antonin, between Nove / fortress near the town of Svishtov / and Grimamium / fortress in the area of the village of Mechka /.

A redoubt was erected on this site during the Russo-Turkish wars.
On the neighboring hill there are remains of a Roman round tower.
