Thracian cult place

Overview

There is a Thracian fortified sanctuary on the hill "Tapejur Tepe" /"Tapejiyuren" /, 0.75 km south in a straight line from the town hall of the village of Dzhanka. Monument of local significance. The sanctuary is built on a conical hill. Its slopes are relatively steep, overgrown with low trees and shrubs, and from the north with a coniferous forest. Access to the top is most convenient from the northwest due to the sparse vegetation. Numerous fallen stones can be seen on the slopes of the hill. The top was leveled, thus forming a site with an approximately elliptical shape, elongated in the east-west direction. The whole leveled space is densely built up. Due to the strong grassing of the remains, it is not possible to determine with certainty which remains are from residential, temple and farm buildings and which are from the fortress walls. The buildings are made of large, unworked stones, without solder. The rest of the space is full of scattered or piled stones. The place has been significantly damaged by treasury raids. Traces of old excavations are visible, but they are also found quite fresh. No ceramic fragments were found due to the grassy surface and the oncoming noise. From the west, approximately 15 m below the top, a slope can be seen. Fortress or cult place, it functioned in one with the nearby fortress "Tash aul". They are connected by a long and narrow hill, the ridge of which shows traces of buildings made of untreated stones without soldering solution.
