Medieval fortress Kaleto

Overview

The ruins from the Kaleto Fortress to the town of Ardino are located in the Orlovi skali /Eagle Rocks/ area, about 500 meters from the Thracian sanctuary. Nowadays, very little remains of it and it is difficult to see, but the fortress was located at a height before reaching the niches of the sanctuary.

The fortress was in the shape of an irregular circle with a diameter of 67 meters and covered an area of 0.5 decares. It was built of stone, without mortar. Many remains of Thracian pottery have been found in the region.
