Sculptural composition Apriltsi
Overview
The sculptural composition "Apriltsi" was made on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the April Uprising.
It is located at the fork to the Dryanovo Monastery, right next to the main road E85, part of the European road network.
Impressive in size, the monument depicts three rebels. On one side of the limestone are carved a dagger and a pistol on a book, on the other an upright lion, and on the back an inscription dedicated to the glorious detachment of Priest Hariton, which fought an epic battle for nine days in 1876 by the Ottoman army. The sculpture was erected on the occasion of 100 years of the epic and is the work of Ilia Iliev.
