Plovdiv City Art Gallery
Overview
City Art Gallery - Plovdiv is an art gallery and museum in Plovdiv.
The history of the museum dates back to 1881, when the National Library and Museum in Plovdiv received 4 copies of the donor portraits from the Boyana Church (1259), made by the Tryavna painter Simeon Simeonov.
An art department was established at the museum in 1911. It became the basis of the future city gallery, originally called the State Art Gallery. Its official opening was on March 2, 1952.
