Overview

The monument was erected in memory of the fallen volunteers in the battle with bashibozuk in 1913, in defense of the city. It is a figure of a soldier with an overcoat and a cap, girded with a sling, in a rifle stand at his feet, with a rifle blade. The figure is made of cement with a height of 2.20 m, and the pedestal - of marble with a height of 2.20 m. The author's team is unknown. The monument was made in 1927. In 1979 it was moved and a new pedestal was made by arch. Kasnakov. There is an inscription on the monument: "Eternal gratitude to the Bulgarian soldiers who gave their lives for the freedom of the homeland!".

Next to the monument there is an ossuary 2 m long and 0.80 m high. It is made of marble slabs. The designer is architect Kasnakov from Kardzhali, and the contractor is Mladen Georgiev Kuzmanov - construction technician from set 61. The marble slabs are plastered by Atanas Krastev Atanasov. The ossuary was officially opened on September 23, 1979.

The town of Krumovgrad was liberated by the Macedonian-Edirne militia on November 8, 1912. A militia company was housed in the old Turkish barracks. The commander of the company was Colonel Domuschiev. At the end of June 1913, after the declaration of the Allied War, when the Bulgarian army was on the Serbian border, the bashibozuk killed the mayor of the city and destroyed the local garrison.
