The sacred place of St. Elijah

Overview

The sacred place is located 150 km north of the Sofia-Varna road in the Artasha area, at the foot of the southern slope of the Bardo hill on a grave mound. It was founded in honor of St. Elijah and dates from the first half of the nineteenth century. It is made against thunder. The village bull was sacrificed. The priest says a prayer. Everyone sits at a common table around the mound itself. The largest and most revered village meal in the past.
The veneration of the meal has the potential to continue. In 2014 it was restored.
