National Museum of Transport, Ruse
Overview
The National Museum of Transport is located in Ruse, on the banks of the Danube, and is the only one of its kind in the whole country. It is located in the building of the first railway station in the country, built in 1866 by the Barclay brothers. The exposition is located in 2 parts in the station building and outdoors - several steam locomotives, different models of cars, and here are kept the personal car of King Ferdinand I, the car with which the Turkish sultan undertook tours and many other interesting exhibits. The museum is categorized as a national museum of railway transport and communications on June 26, 1966 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the beginning of railway transport in Bulgaria. The museum building has been declared a historical monument.
