Museum exposition Archeology and Revival-Dryanovo
Overview
The exhibition was established in 1970, and 18 years later it was renovated and moved to its current building. Shows the most valuable and interesting finds from the archaeological excavations of the fortresses and caves in the area - Strinava, Boruna, "Bacho Kiro", "Andaka", "Polichkite" and others. Among them are exhibits from the Paleolithic, Thracians, Romans, Byzantines and Bulgarians, especially from the time when neighboring Tarnovgrad was the capital of Bulgaria. It also traces the development of the Dryanovo Monastery as a spiritual, cultural and revolutionary center. Serious attention is paid to the epic battle that took place here during the April Uprising - the detachment of Pope Hariton and Bacho Kiro against several thousand Ottoman soldiers, which lasted nine days. The skulls of some of the killed rebels are kept here.
