Museum "History of the Anchor" Ahtopol
Overview
Museum "History of the Anchor" is located about 250 meters to the right of the quay port of Ahtopol, on the shores of Ahtopol Bay, in the Nature Park "Strandzha". It is located in the yard, on the first floor of the "Museum" restaurant, and on the second floor, which is entirely for museum exhibitions.
In the first Bulgarian museum exposition "History of the Anchor", not only were found and presented, but endangered finds were saved. These ancient and modern examples of the most ancient ship facility are important for the museum work, for the history of the town of Ahtopol, and for the Mediterranean history.
However, the History of the Anchor Museum has more than just anchors. There are also ship cannons, coins, pottery, bells found among the remains of Turkish, Greek, French, Russian, Byzantine and Roman ships and all other ship equipment. Among the exhibits are many old maps, including the Black Sea and Strandzha from European cartography since Roman times. On the walls, foreigners can see many old photographs and engravings that seal the history of the town of Ahtopol and Ahtopol residents. The old port lighthouse is also preserved here.
