House Museum of the Russophiles Ruse
Overview
Toma Kardzhiev House Museum is a museum ethnographic collection of the Historical Museum in Ruse, opened in the home of the Bulgarian teacher and revolutionary Toma Kardzhiev, one of the leaders of the Russophile Rebellion in 1887. The house museum was founded on March 2, 1984 and closed in 1990. In March 2008 the exposition "Living Antiquity" was opened in the museum. The Ethnographic World of Ruse Region ”, presenting the way of life and traditions of the old local population, the Herzogs. The exhibition, illustrated with photographs from Dimitar Marinov's first Bulgarian ethnographic album from 1892, contains folk costumes, women's jewelry, masks and ritual objects used in the customs of Kukove, Boenets, Brazaya, weddings, lazarus, and other rites.
