Overview

It was opened in 2008, empty and with a collapsed vault. The tomb dates from the second half of the fourth or the beginning of the third century BC - the early Hellenistic era after Alexander the Great. It is built extremely precisely from large stone blocks. It is preserved at a height of 2.80 m. It consists of a corridor, walled in antiquity, and a round chamber with a diameter of 3.20 m. The upper stone rows of the corridor and the round chamber are missing, including the keystone at the top of the dome. The only artifacts now found are pieces of human and animal bone, fragments of ceramic vessels drilled for a string of cherry stones, an iron hoe and a large pickaxe with two blades - narrower and wider. Archaeologists have found the remains of gold-woven garments, part of an openwork gold tiara and a funeral bronze wreath. Such a tiara has not been found so far in Thrace. She is very beautiful and elegant. This is the first information about the existence of a hitherto unknown Thracian dynastic center. Remains of a Thracian settlement were found near the mound. There are fragments of five houses, seven kilns for the production of ceramic vessels, a large sanctuary reminiscent of rituals typical of the Odrysian kingdom, the remains of amphorae and coins carved during the time of Seuthes III. Traces of a rich burial have also been found.
