Clock tower - Dupnitsa
Overview
The clock tower in Dupnitsa is one of the symbols of the city. It was built in 1782 as a Bay battle tower with four battlements (battlements) for defense. It is adapted for the clock to the last decade of the 18th century. It was then called saatkula. It is located in the City Garden Park, near the center of Dupnitsa. The tower has a trapezoidal shape with a side length of 5.5 m and a height of 17.2 m. The clock mechanism of the tower was probably made by Bulgarian masters and consists of four dials, but due to poor maintenance it stopped working in 1939. The tower and the clock were restored in 1979 on the occasion of 1300 years since the founding of the Bulgarian state.
