Stara Zagora Zoo

Overview

The Stara Zagora Zoo was established in 1957. It is located in a picturesque area of ​​Ayazmoto Park. It occupies an area of ​​70 decares.

The Zoo keeps nearly 400 specimens of about 80 species of mammals, birds and amphibians. Animals from all continents can be seen, except the inhabitants of Antarctica. Europe - brown bear, red deer, roe deer, lynx, wolf, fox, Asia - tigers, yak, North America - raccoon, South America - jaguar, llama, Africa - lion, ostrich and Australia - emu, parrots.

A tradition for the Zoo is the successful breeding of brown bears. In the period 2002-2007, nine bears were born, which enriched the collections of other zoos in the country. It is no coincidence that the statue of the two stone bears that greet visitors at its entrance has become its symbol.
