Overview

Medvenska River is a river in Stara Planina, Sliven District - Kotel Municipality and Bourgas District - Sungurlare Municipality, a left tributary of the Luda Kamchia River. Its length is 20 km.

Medvenska River originates under the name Cherna Reka from 926 m above sea level. in Kotlenska mountain, about 5 km northeast of the town of Kotel. It flows in a southeasterly direction in a deep, in places canyon-like and wooded valley with many rapids and small waterfalls (the cascade "Skokovete"). After the village of Medven, its valley widens. It flows to the left into the river Luda Kamchia at 319 m above sea level. near the village of Dabovitsa, Sungurlare municipality.

The catchment area of ​​the river is 61 km2, which represents 3.8% of the catchment area of ​​the river Luda Kamchia.

The river is fed by rain and snow with maximum runoff in March-April, and minimum - September - October.

From Kotel to Skokovete waterfall on the Medvenska River you can go directly to the mountain. In many places there is a nice view. The river Glogova is crossed. To the west, the view crosses the valley of the Kalugera River and reaches Komincheto Peak, Kotel and the Dry section overhanging it. To the south and southwest are the peaks Vida and Razboyna, to the north - Beli Bregove, to the northeast are Lumi Dyal and Injeburun, and to the east to the Varbishki Pass you can see a labyrinth of peaks and gullies.
