Church of St. Nicholas Novi
Overview
St. Nicholas Novi is a Revival Orthodox Church in the Danube town of Lom, Bulgaria. The church is located in the city center next to the old church "St. Nicholas the New". Towards the beginning of the 20th century the old church became small and the Vidin diocese began construction of a new church just south of it. The foundation stone was laid by Metropolitan Kiril Vidinski on August 28, 1905 and the church was completed two years later. Painters from the Debar Art School work in the church. The icons are the work of Nestor Trayanov and his son Danail Nestorov, who worked in the church in 1908. The iconostasis is the work of the Filipovi carving family.
The two churches and the neighboring building of the Lom Archdiocese were restored by the Municipality of Lom under the Beautiful Bulgaria program in 2006.
