Church of St. Theodore Tyrone Bunovo village
Overview
St. Theodore Tyrone ”is a Bulgarian church in the village of Bunovo, Sofia region.
The church was built in 1834, and before its construction the stone building next to the consecration of St. Nicholas served as a temple. Along with the church, a cell school was built - the convent. During the construction of the church, a high stone wall was built on the side, and a low roof descended on its front side. The first icons of the church are the work of local icon painter Miho Anchov, which are of no artistic value. The first priests in the church were also teachers in the cell school: priest Peter, priest Stefan Panyovski, who served until 1873, priest Ivan Chilov and priest Eustatius. Father Ivan Chilov served until 1904. In the same year he came for the priest Konstantin Andreev from the village of Bozhentsi, Gabrovo region. On his initiative in 1908 a major overhaul was carried out. The church was painted by the Debar masters brothers Jacob and Isaiah Mazhovski, assisted by Rusalim Dichov.
After Father Constantine, in 1929 Father Georgi Koevski came to the church, he served until 1932. On his initiative a new bell tower was built.
In 2017, the church was declared an architectural, construction and artistic immovable cultural property of the Renaissance of local significance. In the same year the temple was renovated for BGN 20,000.
