Strandzha oak

Overview

The natural landmark Strandzhanski dub - Sveti Iliya area is located about 2 km west of the village of Kosti.

Until recently, the area had the status of a protected, with the category of natural landmark. It was declared as such in 1974, in order to preserve a deposit of Strandzha false oak. It is currently not listed in the Register of Protected Areas in Bulgaria with any status of its own. It is part of the Strandzha Nature Park and the Strandzha Protected Area under the Birds Directive of the European Natura 2000 Network.

St. Elijah is a group of 14 majestic centuries-old Strandzha oaks (liars), located in the cult bark. Among them is the small chapel with the holy spring "St. Elijah". There is a picnic shelter next to them.
