Potato Festival Klisura
Overview
In the Balkan town of Klisura, in Chervenakov's house, is the only Potato Museum in Bulgaria and on the Balkan Peninsula. That is why the celebrations here are already traditional and in addition to the usual exhibition of potatoes with the most bizarre shapes, there are a bunch of competitions in Klisura - for the biggest, for the smallest and most delicious potatoes from this year's harvest.
The inhabitants of Klisura point out that it is in their city that the sweetest potatoes are born, so they are especially revered in the city. The first museum collection of potatoes was in 1986 in the Chervenakov House, when a unique museum collection was created, in which the biggest attraction are impressive potatoes with their size. On the day of the Potato Festival, various competitions are organized: for the most beautiful culinary product made of potatoes, for a literary work, "Golden Potato" - for contribution to the unique holiday and others. The tradition of having Potato Day dates back to the same year.
The Feast is traditionally held in October. During the holiday, potato growers from all over the country show their products. People from Klisura do not fail to point out that they are born the sweetest potatoes, which compete with the most famous Rhodope varieties. That is why this agricultural crop is especially revered in the city.
