Overview

The available available data and source materials for the history of the existing old monastery at this place are very scarce. Legends have been preserved that the monastery was built in Turkish times, in the 16th century. Probably in this period people from Vidrartsi built their monastery "St. Nicholas". The sources refer to the destruction of the monastery during the time of mass Turkification of the villages from Lovchanska, Beloslatinska, Lukovitska and Teteven districts, around 1636, when many of the villages in these areas were destroyed during the invasion of soldiers under the leadership of Pasha Chanpalaoglu.

On the place where the monastery was, after the Liberation a chapel of the same name "St. Nicholas" was built, which is preserved to this day. From the built-in inscription above the entrance we understand that it was built in 1897 by Marin Lalov and his wife Stana, parents of 7 children, whose names are written. Architecturally, the small building is a single-nave, single-apse pseudo-basilica, covered with stone slabs, with a wooden altar. In the church "St. Paraskeva" are preserved to this day icons that belonged to the chapel. On May 22 and 23 old style is annually celebrated village fair, a tradition revived in recent years on May 9.
