Overview

Holy place of St. Ivan Rilski is located in a niche of a cave with a stone cross

In the sloping rock in the southwestern part of the niche there is an incised inscription, "Father John, help and save", dated around the XII century. Here on the feast of St. Ivan Rilski (October 19) gathers the population from the surrounding villages to serve with a sacrifice. Service participants wash their eyes with water from the cave for healing or to protect themselves from disease.

Leaving the village of Skrino, the hermit wanders through the deserted places and monasteries near Struma and Vitosha. He first stopped at the Zemen Gorge on the Struma River, in a cave above the village of Garbino, at the foot of a rock wreath in the Sveta Voda locality, and indulged in ascetic feats.
