Museum of the Ministry of Interior Affairs
Overview
The Museum of the Ministry of Interior Affairs is located in the center of Sofia. It was built in 1912 in Art Nouveau style. In 1976 the building was declared a cultural monument. The exposition briefly presents highlights from the history of the Ministry of Interior. The fund of the Museum includes a collection of works of fine art objects inspired by the everyday life of the employees of the Ministry.
The museum shelters several rich collections: materials collected during the detection of criminal, economic, and other crimes; a collection of works of art; a large photo archive.
The museum keeps and presents periods in the history of the Ministry of Interior. The museum's fund includes a rich collection of weapons, police uniforms (both Bulgarian and foreign), photographs of the employees' everyday life, artworks and samples of the modern armaments of Bulgarian policemen. The museum has documents and archive photographs that reflect important events from the ministry's activities since its foundation to the present day. There are also materials related to the detection of serious crime and the capture of large "fishes" from the criminal world.
