Overview

Peyo Yavorov House Museum is located on G. Rakovski № 136 and was officially opened in 1963. The poet lived there with his wife Lora Karavelova from 1912 until her tragic death. In 1976 the house became part of the National Museum of Bulgarian Literature, later renamed the National Literature Museum. Many personal belongings of Yavorov and Lora Karavelova are exhibited, as well as of his beloved Mina Todorova, who was buried far away, in Paris.

The exposition includes the living room and the poet's workplace with the authentic atmosphere from the beginning of the XX century, where Peyo Yavorov and his wife Lora Karavelova lived. The room with the original belongings from the poet's last home, where he ended his life on October 29, 1914, has also been restored here.

The museum's collection shelters valuable manuscripts, original photographs, the poet's personal library, the first editions of his works (most of them autographed), his weapons collection, paintings, graphics, and sculptures.

There is also a house museum "Peyo Yavorov" in the poet's hometown - Chirpan.
